What we doIn response to God's love, grace, and truth:
The Purpose of InterVarsity Christian Fellowship/USA is to establish and advance at colleges and universities witnessing communities of students and faculty who follow Jesus as Savior and Lord: growing in love for God, God's Word, God's people of every ethnicity and culture, and God's purposes in the world. |
Local vital statistics
We are currently on 10 campuses throughout Orange, Seminole, and Polk counties. There are 30 small group witnessing communities seeking to reach every corner of campus and every campus in MidFlorida. These small group communities are led by 55 student leaders and impact a total of 228 core students.
By 2018 we expect to be on 12 campuses with 32 small groups impacting a total of 250 students.
By 2018 we expect to be on 12 campuses with 32 small groups impacting a total of 250 students.
We are committed to sharing the Good News of Jesus in relevant ways and inviting students to respond. In 2015-16 we reached out to 940 new students, invited 160 non-Christians to investigate Jesus, and saw 42 non-Christians regularly involved in small group. We praise God that 32 students made decisions to follow Jesus and entered into transformative discipleship relationships.
In InterVarsity, it is our firm belief that God calls to himself those from every tribe, tongue, and nation. It is our hope that, we continue to grow in our passion for and effectiveness in serving students & faculty of every ethnicity and culture. Our chapters reflect a diverse community, made up of 2% internationals, 36% African-Americans, 9% Asians, 18% Latinos, & 35% white students.
We believe that students grow through intentional discipleship and training, both in individual formation and their ability to love and serve those around them. This year, 55 students were trained in leadership through Focus Week, 33% learned how to share their faith, and 60 students collaborated to design a way to multiply their small groups into a new corner of their campus.
Not only do our students impact their campus, but also the world around them. This year, 12 students participated in domestic or international missions projects. Additionally, 17% volunteer for other organizations in their communities. Our hope is not just to equip students to reach their campus, but to develop world changers for the future.
